Your Invite!

Hale Kula teachers "get their Google on"

While the energy and excitement from the Hawaii #gafesummit still dominates our thoughts, I'd like to invite you to capture it via digital media.  Please add your "take-away" to this collaborative presentation in the format of 6 words & 1 picture.  

We've all heard, "Everything's a Remix" & I give credit to Bryan Doyle who invited folks to do this same thing after ISTE.  He invited us to tell the story of our experience in one image and six words and contribute it to his Google presentation:  ISTE13 Six Word Story Project.  

Synthesizing an experience like ISTE or #gafesummit into six words is not easy, but it forces you to think deeply and to choose your picture, and words, carefully.  Maybe this is a step towards developing your manifesto that Molly Schroeder invited us to create during her closing keynote--this can be your "dreaming out loud" brainstorming.  And, as you look at the creations of fellow #gafesummit attendees, your manifesto might adapt, change or grow into something different from what you had expected.  

Give it a try!  If you are new to Google Slides, you can find 'how to' information here or if you're a Google ninja, you might like to play with the Chrome Add-on, Pixlr Editor.  And if you have already embraced "reckless creativity," you might create a 6 second story via Vine. (Remember, Hungry Tree Friend Jim Sill shared?)

Speaking of moonshot thinking, this blog is my moonshot thinking--I'm hoping to provide teachers a space to 'dream out loud' and share what they'd like to see happen in their classroom or their school.  Evan Rapoport asked us to give students time to dream, create & connect--to tell their stories via digital tools. Teachers need this opportunity too; to be "architects of the possible" as Mark Wagner said.
